The Sage

Wisdom is earned through many years
Built on heartaches, trials and tears
For it takes a lifetime to become a sage
Growing ever wiser each day they age

There's not many things that they haven't seen
Their bodies grow older, their minds staying keen
With answers to questions that we haven't learned
Working each day for the wisdom they've earned

Sometimes we think that their just out of touch
But they've seen it all and we haven't seen much
Sometimes we say that they don't understand
But the things that we know has come from their hand

Teaching us things through the stories they tell
Some will grow wiser, while others will fail
Wisdom is something that cannot be bought
For time is our teacher, it can only be taught
