The Sadness of Things

I'm woozy with the uncertainties of life. 
I'm staggering back and forth, 
slamming into one wall and then another. 
I cling to a banister 
wondering how it can be 
that I'm even alive.  
Bitter to be still living. 
Grateful to have survived so long.
