The Ruler's Life

My bloody hands
cover these lands
where I must stand.

My fearless face
shows my rightful place
with all my grace.

My open sores
are just my chores
that are from countless wars.

My sword swings
giving me wings
of power it brings.

My heavy crown
drags me down
having me drown.

My role holds on to hope
so people can cope
looking upon a dead pope.
