The Ruby and the Pearls

With a ruby we’re blessed.
It lies beneath the breast.
It is our heart - love’s domain.

However, it’s the mind
where memories we find -
precious pearls stored in the brain.

Love’s ruby has great cost,
but with no pearls, we’re lost!
Heart dies when memories wane.

Congratulations on your fantastic win, Andrea! Your reflection on love is deeply felt . Your last line says it beautifully, " Hearts dies when memories wane. " Keep on writing and create beautiful verses from your gentle heart. May God bless you. Thanks for your comments. Have a wonderful Sunday. Hug, Andrew.

A purposeful write....I am delighted to read this awesome entry, I know Doc will enjoy it too. You must read a lot in your work to be sooo diverse. Precious memories are the pearls of the mind..ahhh sooo true. Eloquent delight. Preacher poem did poorly...I have a lot of learning to do. Any good books on writing, send em my way.

A "gem" Andrea. I get e-mail through PFT. Don't know why I don't get yours. All I've done is simply reply to posting of other poets. If you post, I should get it, if not, maybe we should ask Connie about it. Luck in the contest. Love, daver

A gem of a write, every phrase was so tight. Coherently wrang the big bell. The mind was so bright, the heart, it did swell. Wrapping it all up just right. Good luck in the contest.
