The Romeo Effect

I stood upon the wooden deck As the boat made way to sea I saw the sky was turning black Trepedation had a grip on me But we had to carry onward Cause that's how we make our way Fishing on the open sea Is how the bills are paid The storms rolled in. The waves grew high They sprayed above the rail Men were grassping hand holds For this violent ride through hell Questions ran through frightened minds As rain came pouring down What if we can't make it back And everybody drowns Prayers were screamed into the storm From every sailor there Asking for forgiveness And release from their despare With broken masts and sails unlatched I felt that we were doomed The salty water crashed aboard And all hope was consumed I went below to write the logue To keep the sailors tale So loved ones back at home would know How everybody fell And when I climbed above to see If all were safe and sound The only thing I saw was smiles On faces all around They pointed to the distance And they asked if I could hear The tolling of an iron bell That says the shore is near I listened through the thunder I srained to hear through rain I gave it everything I had And there it was again I told the men to turn the ship And head toward the sound Surely that would be the way To find some solid ground As daylight broke and weather ceased Land came into view The lighthouse light could then be seen And joy fulfilled the crew I think of Shakespear's Juliet And how her light did shine Calling out to Romeo With love that's so devine But that's not me and that's not here We've got to make it home Our ship's in need of much repair Before we can go on We set our sights on beacons light With one remaining sail Thankful for an angels help By tolling on the bell Rockman
