The River
I went down to the river
I found a dark, deep hole
I looked beneath the water
And there I saw my soul
My demons they surrounded me
I kept them locked inside
Anticipating their next move
Lest they should see me die
The emptiness within me
Like the water cold and black
I've bottled all my pain inside
Many knives have pierced my back
I feel my heartbeat fading
One river left to cross
A deadly blade pierced my chest
The battle I have lost
This war for me is over
No worries left to bear
I've gone to meet my maker
I'll see you once more there
Please lay me near the river
Underneath the big oak tree
And as the sun sets every eve
I hope you'll think of me
