The Right

The Right
~~~~~~~~~
I have the right to remain silent
Especially when I know that anything I say
You will at some future date twist it
And use it against me
Denial once believed to be a river in Egypt
Is not the case here
One of the few things I learned from my mom
Was if you have nothing good to say
Then say nothing at all
For once the tainted words cross
From fips to ears the damage will always remain
Silence does not translate to anger,
Just maturity in action
I have nothing to prove to you or the world
For I live as I speak, think, and breathe
That verbal conflict into which I was forced
Was no doubt our last
For I say to you once again,
I have the right to remain silent.
