I hope that toast was a cup of tea or water, Jan! It would be so sad were he to throw away those 6 weeks! Your senryu leads to serious musing, though one can treat it with a dose of wit! Hugs // paul

It's so sad when this happens. Alcoholism is an awful disease.

Totally curable. And if untreated a danger to himself and those who know him. It is a disease, we don't laugh at cancer patients, do we! Or diabetics? The AMA defines it as a disease.so~ it's cruel to laugh, best we look into our own souls and stop being arrogant. Love, Panagiota.

Big mistake, should have had a cup of tea. Yet many do just that, congratulate themselves by having a drink. Good luck. Tom.

Tom, millions of alcoholics celebrate in AA with friends, coffee, cake and fellowship. It's too bad they are not in the news. Many have been sober over 40 years.)))) they are in every profession. Bless them. Love, Panagiota

Must be hard to kick the habit Tom, have a friend whose wife is an alcoholic I didn't recognise her when we saw them out shopping recently, she was found paralytic in the street a few weeks back and ended up in court but she won't give up the drink, its so sad:-( hugs Jan xx

You have enormous humanity in you. Of courses he can try again. Rare, are the people who can get sober on the first try. People forget Betty Ford? Of course! Easier to make a joke about a man with a fatal illness. Love, Panagiota
