The Red Parasol of Time
Relaxing
As I took deep breaths,
Slowly breathing in,
Savouring every moment,
Capturing the freshness,
Walking along the rocky shore,
Letting the wind take my imagination,
As I walk down memory lane,
Admiring the views,
Picturing that scene,
Stepping back in time, to taste, hear and smell,
The history of our forefathers
Looking through their eyes,
Seeing and feeling their struggles,
Hardship and war,
Walking along that same sandy beach,
As they had to put aside all their fears,
Of unknowing and uncertainties
Trying not to spoil their special time,
Knowing this could be their last,
Day out together,
Excitement as father and son,
Cast their net into the pools,
The love felt from the mother,
As she looked at her daughter
Sat under her red parasol
Shading from the summer heat
Wiping away her tears,
As she quickly changed the mood,
Back to that beautiful day out,
Their presence will remain,
On that beach forever,
