Notes About The Poem

The Reason

There's a reason why I feel the way I do,
There's a reason why I do the things I do.
There's a reason why I drink, it's all because I think,
Of the reasons why I'm still in love with you.

There's a reason why my life is such a mess,
It's the reason for this constant loneliness.
All I do is drink, and the reason is I think,
Of the reasons why I'm still in love with you.

There's a reason why I never sleep at night,
It's the reason why I always look a fright.
I never sleep a wink,
it's all because I think,
Of the reasons why I'm still in love with you.

There's a reason why I have to say goodbye,
and the reason is I know I'm going to cry,
I need another drink, it always helps me think,
Of the reasons why Im still in love with you.

There's a reason why I have to end this song,
and the reason is I have to move along.
Forget about the drink, I don't need help to think,
Of the reasons why I'm still in love with you.

Very sad and touching, Cal. It's always hard to say goodbye to someone we love. Indeed, you don't need the drink to remind you of the reasons you love her. Beautifully written! Best wishes, Carolyn
