The Raven and the Dove

The raven and the dove
  Noah sent one, then the other
to check the seas and the skies above

Ravens are cruel, known
  to abandon their young
While doves are loyal
  to their mates for so long

At first Noah thought he'd better be tough
  to rebuild the world destroyed by the Flood
Then he changed his mind, opted for 'tender'
  to build a world of kindness, of a heavenly gender

Tough is the raven, tender the dove ~
  leading the way back to peace and to love

Sam Kauffman October 7, 2021 at 2:24 PM I love this Gershon - the story of God's everlasting and eternal Covenant with his creations and a promise never broken. I wrote a song that I use with children - Remember the Promise - reminding them that God has never broken a promise. I also love the raven and the dove thematic foundation. Read through 6. Gershon Wolf October 6, 2021 at 8:01 PM Thank you, Kim. Leviticus can be a bit of a rough go with all those sacrifices and priestly goings-on. It's fascinating for a nerd like me, but... I think Numbers gets more 'spicy' -- more human conflicts -- after all the counting and the princely gifts for the Sanctuary at the outset... ~ Faith and Strength, Gershon
