The Rains Came
On dry ground came the rains; they roared
Debris was pushed along ahead, the rolling water pushing all
Earth is scoured in the way; the darkened tempest soared
Raw power pushed right through the wall
Clean men in suits were stuck in muck
Their house slid down the hill in pieces moving on
They sat in wonder waiting in their truck
Still in unbelief, how could it all be gone?
Without words, so shocked by all they saw
Where would they go with a home no more?
Their land was gone; the hill was raw
Could they build again; now what’s in store?
Nothing left but moving rocks and earth
Nature pays no mind to man or what he’s built
Storms will carry all away no matter what it’s worth
With a mighty hand all’s leveled buried in the silt
