The Rains

The rains have come
spilling their goodness down the verdant mountains
into azure seas
while birds play in vast puddles
and children play in them to their little knees

The rains have come
bringing much love to the water starved earth
like the truest of lovers
these rains will give birth

The rains have come
reminding me to stay wrapped and cozy in my bed
not even getting up for coffee
but hunkering down instead

The rains have come
in time to allow life underground to grow
and come springtime
flourish and glow.
