The Rain

Oh Lord we thank thee for the rain
That the promise of a harvest will remain
That the dust settles above the sown grain
That the dirt and drought will go down the drain

Haven't we prayed in pleading and penance
That of those things that are our blessed assurance
Even those that are of time and chance
To by the showers of heaven find fill and balance?

And now the blessing of God marvelous in our eyes
And now and forever more in Him our hope lies
That the Almighty of whom we sought replies
Bursts forth with open skies
