The quiet battle

In silence, I am waging a fierce war,
A battle deep within my fragile soul.
No one can see the fight that I endure,
A quiet war that never makes me whole.
I wear a mask, I smile, I joke, I laugh,
But deep inside, I’m fighting for my life.
The pain is real, it cuts me in half,
And yet I stand, amidst the endless strife.
I seek the strength to face each waking day,
To fight the dark and hold the light inside.
For though the battle rages, I will stay,
And in the end, I’ll learn how to abide.
The quiet battle may not end today,
But I will fight, I’ll rise, I’ll find my way.
