The Quandary

What goes up should always come down The reason the laws of physics have shown What takes birth should someday surely die In the precepts of biology the reasons lie. Nature functions following formulated tenets Life drifts in time like cloud of changing facets The dreams we spin the storm surge they face Some live, some blow away, we can’t ever trace. We toil and try to take life wherever we want Can’t reach the goal for the bridges get burnt The reasons of wreckage we can’t reckon at all That’s when we hear the sound of fate’s footfall. The mind likes to fly on fragile wings of free will It can’t change the shape of life, it lacks the skill Unsure, if it’s an arty artifact of intelligent design Or an ordained expression of ancient coded gene. _______________ October 25, 2022 Contest : A Brian Strand Premiere Choice Sponsored by : Brian Strand

I like the line, "The mind likes to fly on wings of free will". Yet there are things we cannot change. That is a quandary.

Thank you for your visit, and for liking the poem. You are absolutely right, many things we cannot change.

so sorry Subimal, I’m either in an alternate reality, or a crazy glitch just happened, I honestly thought the Seeker wrote this one, thank you so much for not making a thing out of it, perhaps quantum perception is trying to tell me something, cheers David

It doesn't matter, David, who wrote the poem, thank you for initiating a discussion. Your points are well taken.

Your poem resonates many matter of fact truths Seeker, just one little observation and it’s probably meaningless, yet still relevant to the scientific world, in quantum physics, the very act of observing a particle has a dramatic effect on its behaviour, so perhaps the mind can change the shape of life, however imperceptible that may be, Like the point I tried get across about tiny nuances of residual ego, affecting or effecting the meditation experience, or am I just killing the Buddha, cheers David

A fair response Seeker, we merely scratch the surface of true reality, but I do find hints abound, and must follow each one exhaustively in my own quest for destiny or a creator!

Thank you, David for your kind response to my poem. I agree mind can control the ego and vice versa, and mind can change its behaviour, but it cannot perhaps change entirely the fabric of life that depends on many other factors, including destiny or the design of the creator.

A well-structured poem full of insights. Love the image of the mind flying on free will wings. Good luck in the contest.
