The Purpose In Life
This seems the question I ponder the most
Forgetting my manners and neglecting the host
I’m not really sure if this was all about me
Walking with sight yet I still couldn’t see.
When something is asked of me I try to respond
Perhaps sometimes I’ve taken much too long
I read the first chapter then take the first step
I’m not really certain of what I shall get.
I come to realize that this is not about me
I look at the beauty that God’s brought to me
The purpose of life is not at your command
The purpose lies beyond what we understand.
Purpose seems like it could be a utility word
Maybe just repeating something you once heard
But perhaps it can be much more than what we think
It could all disappear in the time it takes to blink.
So I pick up my pieces and try to go home
But it lies outside of my comfort zone
Life without purpose holds no meaning at all
As the bridges crumble and the castles fall.
