The Problem With Love

The problem with love is That you can give them love But that does not assure That you will be above ...that girl he often talks to The one who keeps him keen You tell him it's not worth it He doesn't know what you mean What I mean is that I'd give him Ever so much more I would give him my whole world It is him I would adore I would give him my glass heart And he would give me his We'd care for one another We'd talk, laugh and kiss But his hands become unsteady When he catches another sight A beauty glides on by He thinks this one is right His hands have given up He lets go of my glass heart Memories scattered on the floor Everything just fell apart I told him it was fragile I gave him all he wanted You can't make someone stay Even after you have bonded I clutch onto his heart Begging it to stay But it's now not mine to keep I have to give it away So I hand it over to her His new love he has sought I watch them walk away I watched and thought and thought What did I do wrong? Am I not enough? My glass is on the floor The glass that he once touched I scramble down to fix it But I find that I just can't There is no lifelong fix To a shattered, broken heart You can give someone love You can give them all you have But that does not mean That they have to love you back
