The Power of the Purse

The power of the purse
What a curse that can be
When greed steps in and feeds on self
And self becomes priority

No thought for others or their need
They turn the other cheek
Pocketing their wages
That grow bigger week by week

Their wealth becomes the master
And they a willing slave
Just look at our politicians
The way that they behave

They are there to govern country
With humanity and pride
No place for ego trips
Or a personal easy ride

They are very privileged
To have this chance to shine
I know what I'd be doing
If the chance was ever mine

I'd get right back to basics
And build things up from there
Put money in it's rightful place
Making it compulsory to care
