The Poet's Soul
A poem is like a very small child
You nurture it til it grows
While trying to capture a single thought
And making sure it flows
A poem is always personal
It's a piece of who you are
Letting someone feel the pain
That gave your heart that scar
It's a feeling that's trapped inside
Yearning to be set free
Sometimes it's of things to come
But it's mostly of history
We write about our heartaches
Our troubles and our trials
Sometimes it's happy endings
The reason for our smiles
So when you read the poet's words
Remember to read it slow
And you'll see more than you're looking for
You'll see their very soul
