The Poetry Ropes

Don't know what I'm doing.
Trembling I learn
to express my thoughts
and feelings with
new exciting words.
Innocent yet mindless
to poetic etiquette.
No disrespect
to the masters
of it's grace and elegance.
Couldn't really tell you
a stanza from a blitz.
Hoping you'll all guide me
just a tiny bit,
so I dont look a fool
and can find my little niche.

Hi, Heather, trust me, you'll find your niche. We learn by reading others poems, as you mentioned you are doing. You can train your ear to hear the rhythms in the poems you read. How to books on poetry can help you, too. Especially ones with exercises that encourage you to practice your writing. You did well with this poem. I give you a 7. so don't put yourself down. We are here for you. Any questions? just ask.
