Notes About The Poem

" SUFFERING " MY PHOTO, ©

The Plea of the Wise

The wise man

On his knees the divine implored

Not to grant him immortality

For

Unbearable he found

To witness eternally the suffering

Of Man!

A very interesting thought, especially when so many are in search of the fountain of youth.

Hello Demetrios, Well said for sure in every respect!! Mankind has always had its own degree of suffering and disappointment. I agree with Tom Cunningham, the notion of Heaven on Earth that some people posit is a false narrative. A very timely and poignant write!! (BTW, did you ever receive the copy of my new second book of poetry, Reflections in the Mirror, that I sent you about six weeks ago or so?? If not, please let me know if your mailing address has changed.) Best Always, Gary

Yes, Demetrios!! I did see your e-mails, and I sent you another one today. To know that my newest book was placed by you between the books of Homer and Hesiod is a most grand compliment for sure!! My e-mail address and home mailing address here in Germany remain the same. Best Always, Gary

OF COURSE, I have received your wonderful and inspiring book of six chapters and 595 pages. I have placed it between the books of Homer and Hesiod! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! Know that I have sent you TWO e-mails and thought you already had received them. Have you changed e-mail? If yes, send me the new one. Know that I have received your e-mails and replied right away. Blessings and Thanks!

We see and hear of it daily, anyone that thinks that heaven is on earth has been misguided. Tom
