The Plea

The Plea Please keep her safe was my fervent plea, Keep her safe from the Dark Lord for me. The price I will pay if you do it this night, Is my service to you, my loyalty, my life. For hers is the only love I’ve ever known, Keep this as our secret, that which I have shown. An agreement sealed and the deed soon done, I felt I had at last finally won. She was safe in a place the dark could not go, And I kept my promise—a friend became foe. But soon darkness came calling and broke through the spell, In a flash my life became pure living hell. Profound sorrow cuts deep in my heart like a knife, This is now who I am, a man with no life.
