The Plea

Today, I found a letter from you darlin' You wrote that you don't love me anymore You placed it on the table in the hallway Then you left and didn't even close the door I didn't know you were thinking about leaving I should've seen the writing on the wall There's a cold, bitter emptiness in this house And I keep waiting by the phone for you to call Tonight, I'll drown your memory in a bottle Whiskey helps my mind to ease the pain In the morning, heartache soon will find me And your memory will haunt me once again Please come back and let's start all over If you loved me, please give us one more try I can be the man you always needed me to be Please, don't let this be your last goodbye
