The Physical World Around Us

With the beat of every footstep
I feel a soothing appreciation.
The physical world around us
Sounds the lessons from creation...

The elements beckon us to note
That we must respect their place.
The forces of nature hold far more
Power than the human race!

The iridescence that dazzles us
On the most unappealing creatures
Beckons an opening of eyes and hearts.
Everything has beautiful features.

The daily musical - the dawn chorus
Beckons spirits to feel more light.
While the birds sing their joyous song,
They too have their fight.

The tiny delicate flowers that grow
In places where they do not belong
Beckons a reflection on how our difference
Makes us beautiful and strong.

In the physical world around us
Everything we smell and touch
Beckons our considering that these gifts
Come from a creator who cares so much.

The joy and pleasure that we feel
Beckons the question, how would life be
If we could not see, hear, taste, smell, touch
In a physical world - without sensory?

For all the splendour of our surround
Without announcement, without fuss,
Beckons our souls to connect with and love
The Physical World Around Us.
