The Perfect Day
The perfect day
Cheery-dawn awakens foretold by a chirping bird
As rising sun captivates without a spoken word
Illuminating morning dew on our garden of roses
Spreading the scent of joy a new day proposes.
Vibrant vistas oscillate with golden morning breeze,
Darker clouds depart as emerging hues appease,
Sunshine reigns pleasantly over young blue skies,
Remnants of gloom vanish before our grateful eyes.
Welcoming family and friends we gather together
Setting a picnic table to immerse in beautiful weather
Blissful in the company of loving conversation
Delighted by the bounty of omnipresent elation.
Birds alert each other sensing arrival of a meal
As burgers and hot dogs sizzle on the summer grill,
Happily we devour the food feeling quite gratified
As small talk reverberates being heartily satisfied.
Not a hint of despair resides on the changing horizon,
Shiny blaze adorns trees as distant hills brighten,
Calming winds begin to flow when sun wishes to set
As we celebrate an orange glow of ephemeral sunset.
Evening dresses in misty colors to say good bye,
Moon hides behind twilight appearing a bit shy
And we close the chapter on a beautiful blessed day
Praying diligently the glorious feeling is here to stay.
Rain clouds beyond mountains arrive with afterglow
As the perfect day ends with a spectacular rainbow.
