THE PARK BENCH AT CHRISTMAS America is often called The land of milk and honey A place where anyone may come To make some easy money But if you take a look around I think that you will see The countless number without a home In the home land of the free So Santa's Elves have found a way To share some Christmas glee The man on the bench will be surprised When he sees this Christmas tree But when will our country be concerned To defend this noble cause And take care of the homeless Like the Elves of Santa Claus 18 November 2018 For the contest sponsored by Sara Kendrick Picture #1

I told you in a separate Soup Mail how wonderful this is. You are so kind, thoughtful, considerate and quick to put others before yourself. That is just a small part of why I admire you. Thanks for being available to help keep me on track with my writing. Hugs across the miles -- Curtis

Creative idea behind the theme in this winning work that has good flow and rhyme. Thanks for participating in my contest. May this be the best Christmas and New Year for you and your family. I hope that the homeless are better cared for in the future. Maybe you could come up with some ideas where it would be feasible to get them better situated. Sara

Sara, thank you sponsoring this contest and for choosing my entry for placement. Thank you also for the Christmas and New Year wishes. I wish the same for you and your family. Ironically, I am working with our local VA Medical Center to establish a program for homeless Veterans. It is called Welcome Home and is in conjunction with Celebrate Recovery.

^WW^ I so appreciate such kind words and feel highly honored to call you my friend. Soup is a great tool to make friends of people we have never met and may never meet. There are many on Soup who are as close as a brother. You, Tom Cunningham, Silent One, Bob Hinshaw....the list is endless and I am humbled by it. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to my friend who is as close as a brother.

I see far too many homeless even in my own little hometown but when I consider the number in places like Atlanta, New Orleans, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, etc. I become so grateful and humbled that I have been spared that.
