The pain of truth

Fighting back my tears
Feeling the fear
Painful rejection
Powerful deception
Read between your lines
Your lies intertwine
Making the truth obscure
And my heart less pure

I’ll get up off the ground
And quit letting your memory shove me around
All the time I wasted waiting here for you
Knowing now that you were untrue

Guess it was a lesson
I needed to learn
Love is something
I can not burn
On someone who abuses
They’re mind
With false pretences and acts that are unkind

I’m looking for so much more
A beautiful woman
Not a chore
She’ll be brave
And get my love
I’ll look back
And see there was
No us that I can speak of
