The Other Side

My days are dull and have no spark
I feel chained down in time and space
I'm weary of familiar things
I feel I have to leave this place

I need to take a mythic trip
Past common towns and border lines
Beyond all final human sight
I need to leave this place behind

I long to sail among the stars
To walk among the fires of Hell
To slip into the mists of thought
That separate us from ourselves

To soar through undiscovered skies
To slither through untrodden grass
To swim in darkling lakes of fear
To break these rusting chains and pass

Into the blameless realms of gold
The icy purple flame of night
To glory in the halls of self
Beyond all final human sight
