Teddy Kimathi Poet Narrative

The Other People

As we read through our history books,
we use the word "they" to refer to people
who annihilated most Indian tribes in Americas;
people who killed millions, 
as they fought for Holy Lands as Crusaders
and Jihadists, each claiming it's God's Will;
people who got fat bellies from slavery;
people who executed millions of Jews.....

We deny the fact that it is our past selves
who did all this injustices against humanity,
and our fellow human beings.

We deny the fact that we are still tainting
our present time with guilt and blood,
only to refer to ourselves as "they"
in the future history books.....

Daniel Turner July 27, 2016 at 8:33 AM I hear you loud and clear Teddy but are we really responsible for the sins of our forefathers. History is written so we as a people can learn from the past. If we do not learn that is our fault because we are responsible for the future. No one can deny the obvious. In reality I have found most people care less about history. Ovidiu Bocsa July 27, 2016 at 8:16 AM Subtle Denial on History of Suffering, sad pages written by indifference and oblivion as you point them with a sad pointer some will bite from, some other will follow the direction looking for medicine, some other will change the attitude by understanding Suffering is not a poetical one.
