The Open Road

Listen to poem:
The windows down, the wind in my hair,
The open road ahead, taking me anywhere,
I didn't need a driver's license to be free,
My heart and soul, that's all I need to be.

No tears on my face, no broken heart,
I'm living life with a brand new start,
I'm not looking back, only ahead,
The past is gone, that's what I've said.

The miles stretch out, the horizon wide,
There's nothing here for me to hide,
I'll take in all the sights and sounds,
And let my spirit soar above the ground.

I'll meet new people, see new places,
And learn to live with no traces,
Of the pain and hurt that held me down,
I'll make my own way, my own sound.

So let me hit the open road,
Let me carry my own load,
I'll find my own way, with no one to please,
And I'll live my life with ease.

Is this a continuation of your whiskey glass poem? This is a good piece. The last stanza is great

Although they were written simultaneously, I did not intend to continue "Whiskey Glass" with "The Open Road." However, I understand why you raised that question.

Sounds like quite an adventure Joel, though with a hint of sadness, ie, venturing out alone. But for some, solo is ok. Nice rhymes. AI reading?
