The Only Thing I See

THE ONLY THING I SEE The only thing I see is sapphire The ornament hasn’t passed through a fire It was held loosely with a thin wire Scavengers around treated it as a ‘sire’ The crave for it was awesome, strong desire Somewhat became an obsession, quite dire The only thing I see is success Mind you, I haven’t gone on a recess I only need someone to help with an access One that will review my proposal: to assess God’s mercy can unlock favour, not a mistress Hardwork, faith, hardwork and a good business The only thing I see now is upliftment We haven’t reached the age of retirement All steps taken; even the right adjustment Times are tough; focus needed not merriment Though many have failed even with good judgement Optimism is very essential to move from the basement The only thing I see is Mercy Am not talking of that friend of Lucy It opened doors to everything that’s Juicy How else could we have left such Legacy Even our foes initially mumbled Fallacy They seem to have recovered from apparent Lunacy The only thing I see is divine Grace Am not talking of the damsel in fine Lace I mean the one you get when you seek His Face A gift that’s available to people of all Race Those who have chosen to win life’s Race Trust and rest on God, he surely has the Ace © Wole Popoola August 2015
