The Only Cost

Painting myself into an emotional corner
  feelings trapped and staid

Family eliminated one by one
  old hurts and wounds replayed

Each year a brick in this wall of pain
to shield me from the loss

Isolation my next of kin
  —love the only cost

You could be writing about me here, Kurt. Self isolation is a by product of rejection. We tend to shy away from all relationships once we have been played. I truly love your work. With succinct wording you always say so much.
