The Old Man's Possession
peace can be yours
and mines possession
It's found in the littlest of things
a warm smile or an act of good will
these are priceless for the peace
that it brings
there was an old man
who had little money
safe to say he barely got by
but he gave so much to his neighbors
for he smiled, held open a door, and
made faces at the babies that cried
his eyes were aged and blue
but they were lit with a peaceful glow
sure of his steps and happy in his ways
you wondered what for him made it so
he didn't have many possessions
he had not moved and shook the world
he didn't appear to have any family
he didn't take up courting a girl
so why then did his disposition
capture the hearts of so many?
he was a friend to every man
and no one knew not one single enemy
he was a great man of peace
for his Maker had made peace with him
he accepted Jesus long ago
and realized his greatest possession back then
so the old man walked freely each day
his message was always the same
"ask Jesus into your heart, He's waiting
receive peace, He knows you by name"
