The Offer

c o n t r a c t 
   on the table; ink is full
       in the pen.
       a deal so enticing,
    impossible 
to refuse. 

I sprinkled on top
   my r u i n o u s offer
      generously 
      with brown sugar,
    then glazed it
with honey.

c a l a m i t y be damned...
   a sweet tooth -
      after a r o l l e r - c o a s t e r of emotions -
      took a bite;
   'twas only 
a matter of time.
