Notes About The Poem

The Now

The Now

Today or tomorrow, for us, may never come.
For in instant, our lives, we may succumb.
Never knowing which way it will be from.

So, we must make the most of it, the now.
Every hour, minute, and second, somehow.
For time to slip away we must not allow.

The next moment could be way too late.
Then, in that instant, we meet our fate.
Never again in this world to celebrate.

I speak from experience's mournful cry.
To many now's have come and gone by.
With friends and family I cannot rectify.

The now is all we have on this life's plain.
Before and after are only links in the chain.
So cherish the now for it will never be again.
