The Noose
It's the noose that is waiting for me.
Now the law is for all to abide.
I will hang from the old gallow tree.
It is murder they say, first degree.
So the judge summing up, will decide,
It's the noose that is waiting for me
Having death on my hands, let it be.
With a plea for some mercy denied,
I will hang from the old gallow tree.
A large crowd they had gathered to see
An old preacher, to pray by my side.
It's the noose that is waiting for me,
To hang by the neck, for my fee.
It's the convict i now stand beside,
I will hang from the old gallow tree.
By my hands, he will die, or go free.
Then the condemned, now blindly he cried,
It's the noose that is waiting for me,
I will hang from the old gallow tree
