'diamonds on velvet' shall be my new nickname for the night sky. I think we share a love for looking into space at night and contemplating infinity. Enjoy your weekend, my friend ~ John

Thank you very much John, there is no better sight on a clear dark night, I think back to when I lived in the city, visibility was minimal due to the light pollution, best move I ever made was moving out to the countryside. I hope you too have a lovely weekend. Tom

Excellent Haiku Tom. Reminded me of a sailing trip I was on in Penobscot Bay and I was up in the middle of the night. What a spectacular sight. Oliver

Thank you Maria, you're making me jealous now lol, but I can just imagine it. I used to live in a city but moved to a country town where the light pollution isn't too bad. When you see the images taken from space you realise how bad it is. Not enough is being done to reduce it. Happy Easter. Tom.

ooh now that is awesome imagery.. did you know that here we have too much light pollution, so stars remain hidden a lot more... sad...

It's tragic that people in big towns and cities will never witness it. You do have to go to remote places now.Stopped over in a lodge in Kenya years ago and with little light pollution you can imagine it. Funny you asked that as I was pumping up my bike tyres in readiness lol.
