The Night Phoenix
Her eyes are glazed a hue of lukewarm grey.
She drowns in her own sea of self pity.
Within her cloud, she sees no light of day-
Engulfed, she is swallowed by her city.
She thinks her self worth has been long forgotten.
She stacks hot coals and planks upon her pyre.
She ponders if her choice is misbegotten-
Ablaze, she's now a smoking column of fire.
But from dry ashes of her induced doom,
A regal phoenix boastfully emerges.
White hot talons beam a glorious plume,
All fear and all self doubt possessed, she purges.
She fills herself with love and self forgiving,
What lay dying within before is living.
