The Night
While you sleep
so peacefully
engulfed in dreams,
I wish I could be
so easily contented
but it was not to be
it's too late, for I have entered
a world from which I can't break free.
There's more to the night
than cats and shadows
things hidden from light
for them it's too hallowed
and once you have changed
you cannot go back
your bloodlust binds you
to the night, cruel and black.
Your thirst can't be quenched
by wine or by water
simplicity has ended
and now just one thing's sought for
you know how to get it
and what you must do
but you fear your humanity
is all that's left to you.
But it's too late
the rules have changed
and only one thing can make you right
you've come too far
and now it's time
to surrender yourself to the night.
