The New Norm
The New Norm

Numerous aspects of my life are changing,
As I wait to see what my new life will be.
While handlers are in charge of rearranging,
The associated end price lingers with me.
I know that things can never be the same,
And I’m left to spar daily with depression.
Going forth, health issues dictate the game,
God keeps these thoughts under repression.
My determination each day was not to slack,
And arrive at the niche in which I stand.
Determined in spirit to claw my way back,
While knowing that God had me in his hand;
God has made me a fighter, so I will not quit,
Or concede space to impulses of the devil.
For, to some, that would make me a hypocrite,
And give my adversary opportunity to revel.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest which left me clinically dead (only 8% live)
Came 3 months after back surgery and has been a formidable foe.
