The Neverending Song
I’m in the middle of a furnace and I'm frozen to the bone
This wasn’t what was promised; never felt this so alone!
I’ve inherited a kingdom from a corpse upon a throne
this wasn’t what was promised; is this the way I must atone?
I’m holed up in a castle trebuchet approach the walls;
this wasn’t what was promised; can’t take those fiery balls!
I’m lookin’ into the future but I don’t seem to be around-
don’t make any plans or promises; soon we’ll meet underground
I’ve got a candle
in a darkened room
but no means to light it
this wasn’t what was promised this is not what I was told
I’m clinging to a
capsize without the
strength to right it
this wasn’t what was promised this is not what I was told
I’m stalked by an
Un-named beast – don’t
know if I can fight it
this wasn’t what was promised this is not what I was told
I’m offered a sweet
sweet apple but I know
I shouldn’t bite it
this wasn’t what was promised this is not what I was told
There’s a poem that says
much more than its words
no-one can ever write it
this wasn’t what was promised this is not what I was told
I’m sailing 'round an
island of hope without
the eyes to sight it
this wasn’t what was promised this is not what I was told
I’m facing demons
in a labyrinth without
the faith to smite’em
this wasn’t what was promised this is not what I was told
I turn my eyes from
a luring minx though
I know it’d be delightful
this wasn’t what was promised this is not what I was told
Wanderin' lost in the
Garden of Soul and it’s never
once been insightful
this wasn’t what was promised this is not what I was told
Standing naked in a
blizzard and my skin
is boiling somethin’ frightful
this wasn’t what was promised this is not what I was told
