l want to ask you questions
Though perhaps that is rude
I just want to know more about you
Yet do not want to intrude

From your poetry words
I often envision who you may be
Gender, age and so forth
So you are no longer a mystery to me

Though fear of overstepping the line
I will never enquire
You will always remain a mystery
Whilst your poetry l read and admire

Well, Deb, at least it's only their outward appearance that remains a mystery. Most poets are quite adept at pouring out their "innards"...poetically, of course. I have noticed that many of the poets on this site don't have much info in their "Biography" section.

Jim that made me smile “their innards” haha! I have neither a profile photo, biography or full name on mine. I guess l just would like to know the basics…gender, age etc…..dreams, life goals and bank balance….Haha….only joking!!! Oh and l need a photo of their innards!!! Cheers…Debx

Sometimes, it's nice to get to know people by their opinions and points of view without first meeting them in person. This helps you learn a little about their hearts and minds and not judge them by their outward appearance. Good write, Deb xx

I have long stopped thinking of the poet but concentrate on the poem. Once there is no biography, unknown poets will remain a mystery. Blessings

I think it is natural to wonder who is behind the pen. I've been on here for a while now, and I almost imagine the tone of a voice, and certainly wonder what they look like and where they are from. We get a pretty good idea of who people are by the poems they write. I was reading some of your comments below and thought I'd encourage the biscuits and gravy, they are delicious, in my honest opinion. Looks can be deceiving :)

An intriguing thought my friend. I like the mystery. That way, when I piss someone off with my words, they know it isn't personal.

i agree that we do learn a lot about poets from their words and maybe that's enough, although i find it strange that i have no idea what some of my favorite poets even look like...

Perhaps it's best that way, YL. For if we knew the person it might jade our interpretation. However I do believe, if you read enough of someone's poetry, you will get a pretty good idea of the person inside. The outside really doesn't matter.

Also true Daniel as long as there is honesty….and we both know from experience that is not always the case! I don't want to know their life stories just if I'm chatting to a make/female as l have been wrong with that hehe and age approximately ….l think thats quite normal or maybe l am just inquisitive Ha!! I looked up biscuits and gravy and l have to say honestly say…..eeewwww!!! Doesn't look so good….but never judge by look it may taste great!! Will try one day if l get to the US…..Always a pleasure….Debx
