The Music Man

The music hangs in the air.
Melodies from his heart.
He is the music man,
Playing on his guitar.

The words are a story of the past.
Lost love he immortalizes in song.
Insecurities plays on in her mind.
Times when things weren’t so gold.

A soul that cries out for more.
Wishing for someone to hear.
He is the music man,
Playing on his guitar.

Sweet buttery tones soothe the heart.
A broken soul can finally relate.
She listens, like a little lost songbird.
Waiting for a chance to sing.

Wiping the tears away.
Placing his hand on his heart.
He is the music man,
Playing on his guitar.

She wishes he knew the impact.
The words that speak to her soul.
Wishing that she could make him see.
He is the music man that touches her heart.

Your music man has much in common with poets, Stacey. We immortalize our lovers in both poetry and songs. Such a soulful poem. Your last verse made me think of the song "Killing Me Softly" by Roberta Flack. She expresses the same emotions. I see you're relatively new to Poetry Soup and bid you welcome. Thanks for stopping by and viewing my poem. Hope to read more of yours, Stacey. Best wishes, Carolyn
