The Mountain and the Man
The Mountain And The Man
I stood looking at the mountain and somehow could not see.
The mountain stood forever but for now looked back at me.
He knew the heart of men before, he knew their every whim....
I longed to climb the mountain no different than them.
Still he stood there silently and never said one word.
I seemed to feel the mountain, it’s thoughts I clearly heard.
So I said to the mountain, you’ve been here for so long.
I’ve no desire at all to climb. Your thoughts of me are wrong.
I long to see the crevices where bones of dead men hide.
I long not to see your peak, I long to see inside.
I long to see what you have seen, the secrets you kept hidden.
Where no man could ever leave because they were forbidden.
I long to see that place untouched and should I meet my end.
I pray you know before I go that you have made a friend.
A mist formed at the mountains top like rainfall from the sky.
But only two on this earth knew the mountain began to cry.
