The Moon
I gazed up into the sky
Questioning the light of the moon
That tattooed its beam across my face
Particles sinking into my pores
Moisturizing my cracked skin
I licked my fractured lips
That tasted faintly of copper
My eyes absorbed its gaze
Feeling its soft kisses
Breeze across my cheeks
It imprinted itself on my heart
Which bled for its loneliness
In the great big black sky
Abandoned by the stars on this evening
What I wouldn’t give to drop everything
And join the moon by its side
Together forever
Holding its hand reassuringly
I knew it was afraid to spend the night alone
So I reached forward to let it know
That it in fact was not alone
I am here, I shouted
No one could hear me shout at the top of my lungs
I am here
I am here
I am here
No one responded
But I knew that the moon had heard me
And that was all that mattered
