the mood was grand at first

The stage was set, the mood was grand
Mr Gus Gooberhauser took the lady’s hand
Sue Sewdarnit, his date, was part of the band
She hailed from somewhere in Newfoundland

They were dancing a bit until the band had to resume
Sue was over the moon, loving Gus, a potential groom
Mr Don Diggindert called his daughter back to the stage
He told her she should slow down, due to her advanced age

Sue was irritated by her father’s evil nasty thoughts
Decided not to introduce him now to Miss Hannah Holysox
So, they all went home in bad moods, none of them with a date
the mood spoiled now by people who did not act great
