The Monster

Living my life alone,my wife has passed away:
Two children and a broken heart,I live from day to day.
We try to make the best of it to sooth each other's souls,
but something deep inside of me that's fighting for control.

There's a monster that's been hiding
it's waiting in the shadows, till it makes it's presence known
but I'll fight till the fight is over
and maybe I will conquer it and leave my body whole

I went down to the doctor, had nothing good to say,
keep going with those shots and pills and let your body lay.
The kids don't really understand, sometimes they have to cry
because I don't have the strength to help them with their lives.

There's a monster deep inside
And it's waiting in the shadows, till it makes its presence known
and I'll never quit my fighting
not till the fight is over and victory has been won!
