The Monk

cernuous sunflower

the monk bent over in prayer

his morningtide vigil, set eyes

until the bell straightens

his curvature, with breathless warmth

"Cernuous" is a new word for me and you've used it aptly in this poem. Thanks for reading my take on southern lemonade and its effects. / M

What a comparison! So imaginative, but truly accurate...And thanks for teaching me a word, 'cernuous.' Best wishes, Gershon

I like the comparison of the monk and sunflower both bending! This is great tanka. Brian seems to prefer this form much more than the triolets I keep entering for his contests. So I think you have a shot with this one!
