The Mists of Barovia

                                                      Mystic mists gain Barovia borders
                                                   To halt one, the land to quit or enter;
                                             The roads are slick with dew that never dries
                                                  And silence sits behind the weary eyes.

                                               The houses huddle low against the gloom
                                              Each window pane a dark and empty room,
                                               No birdsong rings amidst the twisted trees,
                                                    whispers carried on the chilling breeze.

                                             The folk here move with slow and careful pace,
                                                   A shadow etched upon each pallid face;
                                                They speak of ancient curses deep and old,
                                                      A story that can never quite be told.

                                                        Overseen from castle of Ravenlaft,
                                                      No one can ever be safe for his craft,
                                                   Subject to mood of Strand von Zarovich,
                                                  Master necromancer, strong warrior, rich.

                                              Holding sway on the land through magic mists,
                                              With his strong wrist, anyone`s life he can twist;
                                                    Even for her, for whom his heart has wept,
                                                        He won`t waver if she does not accept.

                                                       His eyes hold the deep azure ocean blue,
                                                            Reflecting the earliest morning dew,
                                                      He carries with him no sword or high crest
                                                    Just quiet thoughts of thick mists in his breast.

                                                          Tales of Strand von Zarovich stand tall
                                                      Against the greyish sky where shadows fall
                                                      As games and stories designed in his name,
                                                       So much Barovia’s mists have gained fame.
